On South Georgia Island

Hi there! This is my entry for the Myths-and-Legends Legends of the Sea contest. I decided to make a short comic depicting two of my characters- the Owl (right) and the Explorer (left)- as they explore the waters around South Georgia Island. It is told from the Explorer's point of view and is based around the mystery of the Bloop. The Bloop was an ultra-low frequency sound detected in 1997. The phenomenon was probably caused by ice-quakes, but there was also some speculation that the sound was caused by a very large creature  
I didn't want to outright show the creature in my comic, because I wanted to retain an air of myth and mystery around it, and I hoped that just hinting at its form would accomplish that.

I included both a deep sea fish and a sea plant in this comic:

The two fish near the bottom of the page are Chionobathyscus dewitti. It lives deep in the Southern Ocean (500-2000 m, so up to 1093.6 fathoms).

The brown algae coming off the ice is sea ice algae!

And if anyone is interested, the church in the first panel is Grytviken Church. It was built in 1913. The lichens in the second panel are Usnea antarctica. Both of these things are super cool.
